Honestly, I don't mind the lack of tactical combat in Stellaris that much, because it is a Grand Strategy game, so priorities are shifted towards empire managing, diplomacy, exploring, governing etc. I already posted a mini review in page 2 of this very thread.
I know you can watch the battles like a movie, but meh, it sounds pretty dull to be perfectly honest. When it comes to this MOO we are truly at a crossroad here.ĭo you have it Vahouth? If so do you - as a MOO fan - find the complete lack of tactical combat to be a big negative? I'm tempted to purchase it but I'm worried that without any tactical combat I'll just get really bored. (This game still needs some series development, if it ever wants to become a success.) But if you are not willing to do that then congratulations, you have probably created the most average 4X game imaginable, and will join the MOO 3 devs shortly in a tight competition of who did the worst job with the MOO license you or they (and they at least were willing to try and dream big). KIng, if you are reading this, you totally didn`t get it what made the original MOOs a success, but luckily for you there is still hope for this game if you are just willing to listen to your community here and on Steam and willing to throw your own vanity out of the window.
And as we can clearly see here it currently sucks so badly that Stellaris even with its limitations is mopping the floors with this game on its own forum.
And as we are in EA 3 now you can probably assume that the game in its current condition (minus some AI improvements + bug fixes) is the original vision of the developers of what this game should be like finished.
Come to think of it, this is actually a perfect time to be taking this poll, as I have heard previously that the original plan for this MOO was that there would be at least 3 Early Access phases before the release.
